Position Summary
The Structural Laborer is responsible for supporting construction projects by assisting with the assembly, installation, and maintenance of structural components such as steel, concrete, and other building materials. This role involves physical labor, the use of hand and power tools, and working closely with foremen, ironworkers, and other crew members to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the loading, unloading, and positioning of construction materials and equipment.
- Prepare and clean work areas, ensuring proper tools and materials are available.
- Support the assembly and installation of structural components, including steel beams, rebar, and concrete forms.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and small equipment safely and effectively.
- Perform basic measurements, cutting, grinding, and bolting as directed.
- Follow blueprints, drawings, and instructions from supervisors.
- Assist with rigging, hoisting, and securing materials.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized job site.
- Adhere to company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and job-specific procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the construction team.
Qualifications
Prior construction or labor experience preferred but not required (on-the-job training provided).Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing, bending, and working in various weather conditions.Basic knowledge of construction tools and equipment.Ability to read and follow instructions, including safety guidelines.Reliable, punctual, and willing to work in a team environment.Work Environment
Outdoor construction sites, exposed to varying weather conditions.Requires wearing appropriate PPE (hard hat, gloves, safety glasses, steel-toe boots, etc.).May involve working at heights, in confined spaces, or around heavy machinery.Seniority level
