Medical Scheduler
Provides accurate and timely registration of both clinic and procedure patients, verifying insurance benefits accordingly. It includes varying degrees of computer entry, phone answering, order entry, patient, staff, and physician communication, information retrieval, and a general ability to function as a traffic controller in the primary operative services office. The Medical Scheduler provides patient / family with information on hospital charges, payment options and insurance coverages.
What You Will Do :
- Performs all necessary procedures to establish insurance coverage, and limitations, in a timely and accurate manner.
- Coordinates communication with patient, employees, physicians and external financial agencies.
- Coordinates alternative resources or referrals to appropriate services when necessary.
- Registers and schedules patients in a timely and accurate manner following established protocols.
- Answers phones, taking multiple calls from patients, physicians, nurses, technologists, and family members throughout the day.
- Gives accurate and detailed information regarding patient preparation, appropriateness in scan orders and communicates effectively with referring offices, patients and family members.
- Makes outgoing calls to patients, referring physician offices, outside clinics and hospitals for various reasons including but not limited to : confirming appointment times, give scan preparation information and special instructions, obtain appropriate patient information and insurance verification.
- Analyzes physician orders to ensure the appropriate test has been ordered for the appropriate indication.
- Obtains appropriate medical documentation and reports from other departments, physician's offices, outside clinics and hospitals and coordinate the delivery of information to ensure information is distributed to the appropriate locations and physicians.
