Inspector-Independent Stave Company

Location-Rickman Mill

Independent Stave Company is hiring for our internal Inspector position at Rickman Mill. In this role, you will perform an in-process and final inspection of raw materials and manufactured components for conformance to specifications such as dimensions or defects.

Compensation : $19 plus to start, based on experience

  • Opportunity for weekly and quarterly bonuses. These additional bonuses can increase base pay by $4 or more per hour.

Duties Include :

  • Visually inspecting, measuring, and collecting data on white oak staves
  • Identifying problems and questions and reporting them to the appropriate supervisor

    • Qualities and skills desired :

  • Knowledge of white oak defects.
  • Detail-oriented. Able to scan pieces quickly and accurately identify defects in wood products.
  • Good computer skills are essential, including the ability to currently use or learn quickly, basic email, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Access for work.
  • Quality Control experience is an excellent identifier of possible success in this position.
  • Able to work independently, manage your time effectively, and stay on task without constant monitoring.
  • Trustworthy and honest.
  • Ability to work in various body positions; bending, stooping, standing, and the ability to have coordinated movements of pulling, pushing, grasping, reaching, and bilateral arm movements.
