Responsibilities Work in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) within a hospital setting Night shifts, three 12-hour shifts per week from 19 : 00 to 07 : 00 Patient population includes infants born at or after 32 weeks requiring higher-level care but not full NICU admission Nurse-to-patient ratio ranges from 1 : 1 to 1 : 3 Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed Use of Cerner EMR system Weekend and holiday shifts are required on a rotating basis Role includes managing medication administration, ventilator and respiratory support, and central line care for neonates Holiday coverage is part of the rotation Scrubs are provided for staff All required training modules must be completed pre-start and may be required during orientation Applicants with previous employment at MedStar must have at least a 1-year break before returning as travelers Local candidates within 60 miles are accepted at a local rate Requirements Active compact or Maryland RN license must be in hand at time of submission Current BLS, NRP, and STABLE certifications required Minimum of 2 years of recent NICU experience required At least one prior travel assignment with solid NICU experience required Proficiency in dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV antibiotic administration, vasopressor use for codes, insulin titration, central line management, blood culture collection, ventilator operation, CPAP, and peripheral IV starts Previous charge nurse experience preferred Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-621985.
