Overview
Accurate and safe construction of MetroNet's network to MetroNet's standards is vital to the success of MetroNet's future. The OSP Engineer is on the frontline and ensures construction is built safely and to the required standards and specifications. The role involves responding quickly to neighborhood complaints and actively working to resolve issues, while representing MetroNet to the community.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
- Maintain a clear understanding of MetroNet specifications, standard practices, and safety compliance.
- Conduct walkouts with contractors of completed construction to inspect accuracy and quality.
- Approve all unitized completed work done to MetroNet's standards.
- Manage the OSP Construction Tracker and monitor the approved budget for each work order.
- Physically complete inspections of completed work, which may require walking long distances and across uneven ground conditions with contractors.
- Respond to utility strikes, conduct investigations, document the strike within 24 hours, and retrain or terminate the contractor as needed.
- Conduct a weekly audit of each contractor's safety, construction, and quality practices and identify training needs.
- Ensure contractors hold weekly safety and tailgate meetings and assist in scheduling periodic training as needed.
- Maintain communication in the field and ensure work aligns with safety standards and project specifications.
What You Need For This Position (Qualifications)
A High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); or three (3) to five (5) years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; works well under pressure; strong diplomacy, quality, and safety focus.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.Ability to distinguish between general audience information and confidential information and to maintain confidentiality at all times.Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize urgent items.Valid driver license with a clean driving record (no DUIs or serious violations).Job Details
