Position Overview
We are a public accounting firm seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Tax Manager to oversee our tax department and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working in another public accounting firm and will lead a team of tax professionals, providing guidance on tax strategy, planning, and compliance for a diverse portfolio of clients, including high net worth individuals, corporations, and non-profit organizations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, and partnerships.
- Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Review and approve tax returns prepared by staff, ensuring accuracy and adherence to GAAP standards.
- Provide consulting services to clients on tax planning and business structuring matters.
- Assist clients with audits and resolve any tax-related issues with federal and state authorities.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in tax legislation and communicate impacts to clients and team members.
- Train and mentor junior staff members, fostering professional development and growth within the team.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation is required.Minimum of 5 years of experience in public accounting or tax advisory roles, with a focus on individual and corporate taxation.Prior experience working in a public accounting firm is required.Strong knowledge of federal and state tax regulations, compliance, and planning strategies.Experience with tax return preparation for various entities including C-Corps, S-Corps, Partnerships, and High Net Worth Individuals.Proficiency in tax software and accounting systems, especially ProSystem fx or CCH Axcess .Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex tax concepts to clients.For this position, you must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship for a non-immigrant visa.
