MECHANICAL DESIGNER

Plasser American Corporation, a leader in the railway construction and maintenance equipment industry, is seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer to join our team based in Chesapeake, VA. This role involves the conceptualization and detailed design of advanced mechanical systems and components for railway track maintenance equipment. The ideal candidate will transform initial rough product designs into working documents using computer-aided design (CAD) software, ensuring that our innovative solutions meet both quality and safety standards while enhancing efficiency on the rails. Design mechanical components and systems for railway maintenance equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer specifications. Collaborate with engineers and project managers to refine product designs and integrate new technologies. Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software. Participate in prototype testing and troubleshoot design issues. Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies and to reduce production problems. Document design processes and maintain records and files of work and revisions. Liaise with suppliers and manufacturing teams to ensure component procured meets design requirements. Proficiency in CAD software, particularly AutoCAD and SolidWorks. Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes. Ability to interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
