About the team

Cloudflare R2 Storage enables developers to store large amounts of unstructured data with lower egress costs. We are seeking an Engineering Manager to help continue achieving these goals by leading engineers and aligning technical work with product strategy.

What you'll do

You will lead a team of engineers building innovative products that improve security and speed for millions of internet users. You will contribute to shaping product strategy based on technical possibilities and help the company meet ambitious engineering goals. You will balance business needs with technically innovative solutions, translating big-picture goals into concrete technical plans. You thrive in a fast-paced, iterative environment and have experience delivering scalable distributed systems. You will be recognized as a technical leader and manager who commands respect from past teams.

Responsibilities and qualifications

  • Experience leading a team and collaborating across multiple teams to deliver results
  • Ability to manage teams with broad responsibility scopes
  • Strong foundation in computer science and software engineering, with expertise in software design and distributed systems
  • Proven ability to plan, form teams, and oversee execution to meet commitments with predictability
  • Experience hiring, onboarding, and developing team members; able to explain the rationale behind decisions and designs
  • Experience implementing tools, processes, internal instrumentation, methodologies, and resolving blockers
  • Comfort with tight deadlines and short release cycles

Bonus points

  • Experience leading teams around distributed systems
  • Knowledge of large-scale storage systems and related infrastructure
  • Understanding of server hardware, performance expectations, and failure domains
  • Experience contributing to large open-source projects

    Compensation may be adjusted depending on work location. For certain locations, estimated salary ranges are provided.
