Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist with at least 1 year of acute inpatient or rehab experience for a Level 3 trauma acute care facility.

Responsibilities

  • Work in acute inpatient and rehab settings with possible coverage in ICU depending on experience and need
  • Treat 10 to 12 patients per day as part of a team of 6-7 PTs per shift
  • Patient population includes ortho-total joints, neuro (strokes, occasional brain injuries), medical, general, and ICU
  • Use Epic EMR (EpicCare Inpatient) for documentation
  • Four 10-hour day shifts (07 : 30-18 : 00) or five 8-hour day shifts to accommodate onboarding, with rotating weekend coverage approximately every 4th weekend
  • Holiday shifts required as needed
  • No self-scheduling or special scheduling requests accepted
  • PT Manager is present and supported by PTAs and rehab aides
  • Responsibilities include patient evaluation, treatment planning, and therapy for a variety of conditions including orthopedic, neurological, and medical diagnoses
  • Team includes PTs, PTAs, and rehab aides for collaborative care
  • Department-specific orientation typically lasts 2-3 days with onboarding scheduled during weekdays
  • Scrubs are permitted and color guidelines will be provided upon hire to avoid matching other departments
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Permanent employees must be separated from the facility for at least one year before applying as a traveler
  • Requirements

  • Active state PT license required if applicable and must be active at time of consideration
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in acute inpatient or rehab physical therapy
  • Experience with Epic EMR preferred
  • Driver’s license required
  • Two professional references : one supervisor from the past 12 months and one supervisor or peer from the past 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
  • Must live at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates will not be considered
