Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an Occupational Therapist with at least 1 year of acute care experience and a current BLS certification for a primary inpatient role.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in a short-term acute care hospital in the Occupational Therapy Acute Care unit
  • Patient populations include cardiopulmonary, neurological, orthopedic, medicine, trauma, surgical, and oncology cases
  • Monday through Friday day shift, 7 : 00 AM to 3 : 30 PM, with a flexible start time up to 8 : 00 AM
  • One weekend (Saturday and Sunday) is required per 4-week period with a weekday off as compensation
  • Floating within all therapy service lines within the hospital may be required
  • No floating to sister facilities
  • Primary focus is inpatient care
  • EPIC charting system is used and experience is required
  • Specialized equipment includes SPH equipment, vital carts, IPAD interpreters, and ADL supplies
  • Establish and implement treatment plans considering discharge needs and expected functional status
  • Educate and collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare providers, providing referrals as needed
  • Delegate appropriately to assistants and techs according to skill level and patient needs
  • Complete documentation in accordance with departmental policies
  • Scrub color is black or grey
  • Modules and fit testing may be required during pre-employment orientation
  • Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Standard travelers may remain for an 18-month assignment with a 3-month break required afterward
  • Allied travelers may stay 12 months with a required 6-month break after
  • Weekend rotation is required per hospital policy
  • Parking information is provided during orientation

  • Active state license required; license required if applicable
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of Occupational Therapy experience in an acute care setting
  • EPIC charting experience required
  • No local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius
  • First-time travelers are accepted
  • Pending state license accepted for some locations (see specific licensing rules)
  • No more than 7 days of requested time off during the 13-week contract
  • Facial hair must allow for proper fit testing if required
