Overview
Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager – W3Global. Privately owned general industrial paint manufacturer with national distribution capabilities and a diverse, compliant product portfolio.
Job Purpose
The EHS Manager designs, develops, implements, and oversees the organization's environmental, health, and safety programs and procedures to safeguard employees and surrounding communities. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and evaluates the strengths and weaknesses of current EHS systems while promoting continuous organizational growth through interactive training programs.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Drive and support the implementation of EHS and risk management processes across the organization.
- Ensure consistency in EHS policy creation, revisions, and adherence across all departments.
- Develop and implement the corporate EHS training plan; provide orientation and continued education on safe practices and PPE usage.
- Maintain OSHA logs (Form 300) to classify and record the extent and severity of workplace incidents.
- Ensure maintenance and compliance with ISO 9001 : 2000 certifications.
- Ensure site compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
- Schedule and oversee internal and external audits every 18 months; ensure timely follow-up and corrective actions.
- Standardize safety programs, conduct hazard assessments, and manage MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets).
- Continuously audit work areas, review incident reports, and recommend safety enhancements.
- Identify and implement departmental improvements to enhance service and delivery.
- Interface with internal and external stakeholders to drive EHS culture and technical excellence.
- Promote knowledge sharing and technical development across teams.
- Collaborate with site management to establish safety goals and ensure adherence to all safety rules and regulations.
- Lead the Plant Safety Committee and manage the Emergency Response Team.
- Act as the site representative for community advisory boards, chemical industry groups, and wastewater systems.
- Investigate incidents and identify root causes of accidents, near misses, property damage, and injuries.
- Partner with leadership to integrate a zero-incident mindset into daily operations.
- Leverage EHS initiatives to foster a culture of continuous improvement and position the company as an employer of choice.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.5+ years of leadership experience in EHS within a manufacturing environment.Professional certifications strongly preferred (CSP, CIH, CEM, etc.).Experience with ISO 14001 and OSHAS 18000 compliance is a plus.Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DNR, and other regulatory bodies.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams).Additional Summary
