Position : Prestige Beauty Advisor (PBA)

General Summary & Scope

The Prestige Beauty Advisor (PBA) is responsible for maximizing sales in the prestige category (color cosmetics, skincare, and fragrance) by engaging guests to determine their individual needs and assisting them in selecting and purchasing prestige merchandise, while following all company policies and procedures. Responsibilities support the Sales Manager through focus on performance (service / retail sales and in-store events), people (guest service and associate culture), and process (operating procedures and compliance). A passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and product knowledge are required.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions)

The PBA demonstrates Ulta Beauty's mission, vision and values and performs the following duties :

  • Performance
  • Contribute to meeting or exceeding store goals related to retail and service sales, guest loyalty (including credit), retail shrink and omni-channel sales, focusing on the prestige category and iconic brands as set by Ulta Beauty.
  • Ensure exceptional guest service by greeting and engaging guests, personalizing service, recommending products / services, and informing guests of current promotions and events.
  • Process sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously.
  • Routinely perform makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations to drive sales and guest experience.
  • Book appointments for services and support in-store events to deliver an elevated guest experience while achieving prestige and brand sales goals.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, products, and services, and be knowledgeable about ingredients and benefits to better serve guests.

  • Participate in ongoing training, including prestige and iconic brand product training, to enable continuous professional development and drive prestige sales performance.
  • Process
  • Be knowledgeable of and ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty's policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Adhere to Ulta Beauty's dress code.
  • Drive sales by maintaining prestige and iconic brand work areas as replenished, signed, and faced; ensure testers are available and maintained in line with hygiene standards.
  • Maintain store operational standards, including cleanliness of the sales floor, restrooms, cash wrap, back room, and break area; ensure makeover stations meet company standards.
  • Assist with merchandise resets, planograms, displays, inventory procedures, and processing shipments using Ulta Beauty's practices.
  • Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app, on the sales floor and through Ulta systems.
  • Protect company assets by following loss-prevention practices and delivering excellent guest service.
  • Execute other operational tasks as directed.

Job Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma is preferred
  • Cosmetology, esthetician or demonstrator's license where required by state law

    • Experience

  • 1 year of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred

    • Skills

  • Demonstrates passion and competency for prestige product, guest service, and selling
  • Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills

    • Special Position Requirements

  • Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Attend corporate meetings and conferences, including potential overnight stays

    • Working Conditions

  • Frequent mobility throughout the store during shifts
  • Frequent standing, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, and twisting
  • Continuous lifting / moving up to 10 lbs
  • Continuous coordination of objects during shift
