Job Summary : Provides direct palliative care, support, and education to terminally ill patients and their families while functioning within a medically approved plan of care.
Qualifications / Educational Requirements : Must be a currently licensed RN in the State of Colorado. Must have demonstrated knowledge and experience in the art and science of pain and symptom management and have well-developed physical assessment skills.
Responsibilities / Essential Functions :
Working Conditions : General offices, long-term care facilities, assisted living facilities, and patient home settings will be the primary locations of the RN's activities. Exposure to infectious diseases is possible and universal precautions should be taken at all times. Travel is a requirement of this position.
Physical Demands : Position may require occasional physical exertion. Physical requirements of the RN may include, at varied frequency : sitting, stationary standing, walking, general mobility, crouching, kneeling / crawling, stooping (bending at waist), twisting (knees / waist / neck), turning / pivoting, climbing steps, balancing, reaching overhead, reaching extension, grasping, pinching, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, and lifting up to 50 lbs (with or without accommodation). Must be able to travel to businesses, offices, facilities, or patient homes where conditions may be adverse due to weather, environment, or patients’ lifestyles.
Scheduling : All RNs are expected to work 2 “Holiday” shifts in a 12-month period. Attendance is required for nursing meetings and in-service education events. This position covers on-call visits during the hours of Friday 5p-7a, Saturday 7p-7a, Sunday 7p-8a.
