Overview

Secmation is hiring a Principal RF Design Engineer – SME in Communications and Electronic Warfare to lead the development of complex military communications and electronic warfare systems. This is a hands-on, principal-level role involving design, validation, and deployment across the full engineering lifecycle.

Location : Huntsville, AL. Hybrid work arrangement; on-site in Huntsville with potential for collaboration with defense customers.

What You'll Do

  • Contribute to core products that extend state-of-the-art in defense, industrial cybersecurity, and RF technologies.
  • Provide technical leadership in software-defined communications, exploring cybersecurity using advanced techniques in RF / communications.
  • Develop, analyze, and validate models for communications and RF-based defense systems.
  • Design and implement signal processing algorithms.
  • Support hardware-in-the-loop testing, scenario development, and mission simulations.
  • Document and present technical findings to internal teams, government stakeholders, and program leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • 15+ years of experience in military RF systems including simulation, system design, software, and implementation of communication systems and EW
  • Proficiency in design, implementation, and analysis of military communication systems including adaptive tuning, optimization, and error correction
  • Experience with SDR design frameworks (GNURadio, REDHAWK, or similar)
  • Experience in C / C++ for embedded applications
  • Experience in Electronic Warfare (EW) system design and applications
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment as part of a small team
  • Hybrid on-site role in Huntsville, AL
  • Core hours : Monday to Friday with flexible 9 / 80 schedules
  • Collaborative, fast-paced, technically innovative environment with remote team integration

    • Compensation and Benefits

  • Base pay range : $165,000 - $250,000 per year
  • Annual bonus potential; discretionary performance-based bonus
  • One-time signing bonus : $10,000
