job_description.job_card.job_descriptionEnsure that proposed sites and routes comply with environmental laws, local regulations, and land-use policies, including NEPA, state, and federal guidelines. Collaborate with landowners, government agencies, environmental groups, and the public to gather input and address concerns during the planning process. Use GIS and other mapping tools to analyze geographical data, evaluate terrain, and assess land conditions for potential projects. Develop strategies to minimize the environmental and social impacts of the selected route or site, including avoiding sensitive habitats or cultural sites. Work closely with engineers, environmental planners, and regulatory bodies to integrate routing and siting considerations into the overall project plan. Perform other duties as required. Bachelor's degree in environmental science, natural resource management, geography, engineering, or a related field. Minimum 5 years of professional routing and siting experience (preferably in consulting). Experience with electric utility permitting processes (application development, information requests, hearing support) would be considered an asset. Professional experience with ESRI mapping systems Strong understanding of federal, state, and local routing and NEPA regulations. Ability to coordinate with various regulatory bodies and interdisciplinary teams. Ability to think critically and effectively problem-solve. Data interpretation and analysis. Strong verbal and written communication skills – data collection and interpretation, technical report writing, client communications, etc. Excellent time management skills and ability to commit to and meet deadlines. Experience in impact assessment inputs would be considered an asset.
