About the Role
The Early Childhood Education (ECE) Assistant Director works closely with the ECE Director to ensure the smooth daily operation of the program. This role supports compliance with licensing and accreditation requirements, provides supervision and coaching to staff, strengthens parent and community engagement, and contributes to program growth. The Assistant Director serves as a collaborative partner, stepping into the Director’s role when needed to maintain continuity.
What You’ll Do
- Support Facility Operations & Compliance
Assist the Director with licensing visits, accreditation reviews, and self-assessments.
Monitor classrooms daily for safety, organization, and compliance.Maintain accurate records, staff files, and program documentation.Schedule and oversee drills, safety checks, and compliance-related tasks.Monitor and report student assessment data as it is collected.Support and Develop the ECE TeamSupervise assigned teaching staff, interns, and volunteers.
Conduct classroom observations and provide feedback and coaching in collaboration with the Curriculum Coordinator.Assist with onboarding, scheduling, and professional development.Support staff performance management and goal-setting.Strengthen Communication & Family EngagementServe as a point of contact for teachers and families.
Support parent–teacher communication and coordinate family events.Collaborate with the Director and Family Services Team to address student concerns.Foster Educational Excellence & Program Growth Partner with the Director and Curriculum Coordinator to implement curriculum and assessment practices. Support the collection and organization of student assessment data.
Contribute to program goal-setting and quality improvement initiatives.Support positive communication among teachers, parents, other staff, volunteers, and third-party agencies.Meet weekly with the Family Services Team.
Meet weekly with ECE Leadership Teams.Manage billing for third-party contractors.Communicate significant emotional and / or behavioral concerns, legal / ethical, and other program matters regarding children to the ECE Director in conjunction with the Curriculum Coordinator.Step into the Director’s role when necessary to ensure continuity of operations.Support enrollment of new students into the ECE programParticipate in weekly screening meetings.
Collaborate with ECE Director on transition schedules and openings in each classroom.Schedule and conduct weekly ECE Orientation and family tours in collaboration with the Curriculum Coordinator. Monitor and maintain updated family information in Procare system.Administrative & Operational Support Operate within budget and program expenditures.
Assist with budget monitoring, grant reporting, and data collection.Prepare reports and documentation as requested. Step into the Director’s role when necessary to ensure continuity of operations.Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field (Master’s preferred).Minimum 2–3 years of supervisory or leadership experience in early childhood education.Knowledge of DECAL, Quality Rated, and NAEYC standards.Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, families, and partners. Physical Demands
This position works in a childcare setting with extended periods of standing, sitting, bending, and computer use. Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds may be required.

Primary worksite : 607 Peachtree Street NE, Atlanta, GA 30308Standard schedule : Monday–Friday, 40 hours per weekOccasional evening, weekend, or remote work as neededApplication Process
