Job Description

As the Assistant General Counsel, FERC Compliance, you will provide professional legal advice, counsel, support and guidance to Invenergy’s business operations, focused primarily on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (“FERC”) regulatory interests of the company as related to its generation and transmission portfolios across the United States. In addition, you will serve a critical function within the legal group, providing input and oversight on various strategic and legal operations initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Providing legal and strategic advice primarily on FERC regulatory, compliance and enforcement matters supporting the Company’s transmission and generation compliance, project management, regulatory and operations teams.
• Managing and maintaining a network of relationships with external counsel on matters relating to regulatory and compliance matters.
• Supporting internal regulatory personnel via expertise borne of prior experience with state and / or federal regulatory matters, including representation around electric and / or gas issues before state public utility commissions, regional transmission organizations and the FERC.
• Supporting internal and external teams in : (a) preparing applications, compliance filings, briefs, motions, appeals, legal summaries and other documents as required and (b) preparing filings before FERC, regional transmission organizations and / or state public utility commissions and other government bodies related to project purchase and sale, permits, financing and other operating project and / or corporate compliance matters.
• Supporting key Invenergy departments through the distillation and presentation of complex legal matters, including from agencies, courts and other regulatory bodies.
• Serving on standing and ad hoc strategic committees and forums within the company, as needed.
• Assisting with other general legal matters and various corporate transactions as they arise, and other matters of interest to the company.

Requirements

Base Pay

$175,000.00 - $210,000.00 USD Annual

Bonus : 25% - 40%

The base pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position. Invenergy considers a number of factors when determining base pay offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education and skills.
