Building Custodian
Serve as a Building Custodian within the Housekeeping Department of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA). Responsible for performing cleaning and minor maintenance tasks to ensure that the academy buildings and facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe, and sanitary manner. Will report to the Building Custodian Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications :
- High School Graduate or GED Certificate
- Experience as a Building Custodian (A minimum of three (3) years of custodian or housekeeping experience preferred, but not required)
- Must have a valid driver's license
Salary Statement :
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $34,216.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
A Day in the Life :
Supervise the use of custodial equipment and supplies.Arrange work production to meet daily workflow and short / long term goals.Provide proper supervision, guidance, training, and support to other employees.Inspect all work tasks for quality assurance and completion.Complete needed maintenance reports, including the daily activity inspection.Complete appropriate Blood borne Pathogens forms for hazardous spills.Follow proper methods regarding mold remediation.Follow process when handling biohazard materials.Keep concise inventory and material records.Clean, restock consumables, and sanitize various office spaces.Workday attendance at assigned worksite(s) is an essential function of this position.What You'll Need for Success :
Through knowledge of standard process, practices, and procedures of the custodial trade.Advanced knowledgeable in the operation of custodial equipment.Considerable knowledge of Safety Data Sheets requirements and mixing of cleaning chemicals.Ability to supervise, motivate, and direct the work of custodial staff.Use and maintenance assigned power equipment and hand toolsAdvanced knowledge of cleaning chemicals and solvents and their appropriate applications.Ability to maintain good working relations with employees, department heads, and other staff.Ability to keep and maintain records and prepare progress reports.Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality when maintaining high level offices.Ability to follow to process outlined for handling biohazard materials.Ability to follow proper process regarding mold remediation.Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.Supervisory Responsibilities / Direct Reports :
This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
