Lifeguard - Morning, Evening & Weekend Positions Available

As a Lifeguard at the Green Bay Kroc Center you can choose to work morning, afternoon, evening or weekend shifts. Pool hours are Monday-Friday 5 : 30am - 1 : 00pm and 4 : 00pm - 8 : 30 pm and Saturday from 6 : 30 am- 5 : 30 pm.

This position pays $15.84 / hour and you are eligible to earn an extra $1.00 per hour by adding a Swim Instructor position to your role. A shift differential of $1.00 per hour is paid for all shifts worked from 4 : 00 pm Friday through Sunday.

As a Morning Lifeguard, you will keep a watchful eye during group fitness classes, splash play and swim lessons taking place.

Afternoon / Evening Lifeguards, will be on deck during the times when swim lessons teach life-saving skills, underwater hockey enthusiasts challenge the depths, and families create aquatic memories.

A Weekend Lifeguard oversees the lively open swim windows filled with family activities and exciting features like our splash play area with water tipping bucket and other water features including the always in demand indoor / outdoor water slide.

A key role of all Lifeguard positions is monitoring activities, providing assistance, and enforcing safety regulations. Adhering to the State of Wisconsin approved aquatic staffing plan, you'll ensure a secure aquatic environment during pool hours. General facility maintenance and cleaning duties will also be part of your responsibilities.

SUMMARY / PRIMARY PURPOSE :

The Lifeguard will assist with the implementation of programs, special events, and swim lessons. The Lifeguard will also monitor activities, observe and provide assistance to swimmers, prevent accidents, protect life and enforce regulations. The Lifeguard will also ensure they are positioned in accordance with the State of Wisconsin approved aquatic staffing plan. Position is also required to assist with general facility maintenance and perform other maintenance and cleaning duties as assigned.

• Considerately and patiently enforce Kroc rules to provide a safe environment for all members, visitors and employees. Cautions swimmers regarding unsafe areas and actions. Maintain order in swimming areas.
• Must be able to analyze situations and adopt a quick and effective course of action; maintain constant observation of an assigned area to identify any signs of danger
• Rescue swimmers in danger of drowning and provide first aid and CPR when needed.
• Maintain cleanliness of swimming pool areas.
• Provide great customer service to the community; see that all customers, clients and members are given prompt and courteous service.
• Ensure that all equipment assigned to the aquatic facilities is maintained and properly inventoried on a regular basis, and report defects, necessary repairs, etc. to appropriate personnel.
• Perform set up and breakdown of facility equipment as needed.
• Implement water chemical tests as determined by the Standard Operating Procedures.
• Maintain records regarding programs and operations as needed.
• Participate in designated staff training and professional development courses, including regular in-service training sessions.
• Follow all policies and procedures outlined in the Aquatics Staff Manual.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS :

American Red Cross Lifeguard certification required. Waterpark Certification preferred; must be completed upon hire.

The primary duties of this job take place in a busy public Aquatics Center. The noise level will be high. Temperatures will be above normal room temperature in a high-humidity environment. This position will have exposure to chemicals and fumes typically found in a pool environment, as well as exposure to bodily fluids and other potentially infectious materials.

For other duties of this job, such as outdoor special events and community center activities, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment at these events is usually moderate to loud.

The schedule for the department requires employees to work weeknights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
