Overview
Our firm handles immigration, criminal defense, and uncontested custody and divorce matters, as well as personal injury cases. We are looking for an associate attorney to join our firm handling criminal defense court hearings, preparing legal pleadings, motions, and briefs, supervising legal support staff, and developing training programs.
Responsibilities
- Communicate with clients to prepare matters
- Draft legal pleadings, motions and briefs
- Conduct court hearings
- Supervise legal support staff
- Manage case filings and ensure compliance with deadlines
- Stay informed about changes in the laws, regulations, and local court rules impacting the Firm's immigration practice and communicate updates to the staff
- Update legal documents, templates, and forms to conform with changes
- Coordinate case and legal strategies with legal team members
- Develop and conduct ongoing training programs for legal support staff
- Oversee use of Clio by support staff
- Coordinate clients' requests for file copies
- Perform additional job duties as assigned
Required Skills
Juris Doctor (JD) degree2+ years of criminal experience as an attorneyActive license to practice law in North Carolina in good standingWork effectively with diverse populationsStrong communication skills – speaking, writing, reading, presentingExcellent time management and organizational skills, with high attention to detailWork effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environmentStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAdvanced computer skills and the ability to quickly learn new software applicationsPrior experience with Clio a plusProficiency in Spanish a plusJob Details
