An opportunity to work in north central Ohio for an established healthcare system of 400 beds that serves four counties.

Bachelor's degree in Medical Dietetics and / or nutrition.
- Registered Dietitian with at least 2 years experience. Prefer membership to the American Dietetic Association and / or professional members to a renal association i.e. Must possess a valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator's license and be insurable under Firelands' auto policy. Employee must provide proof of personal automobile liability insurance coverage upon request.
Position is full-time days Monday-Friday. No weekends or holidays. 8 hour days with flexible hours.
Under the direct supervision of the Director, the Clinical Dietitian plans, directs and provides nutritional care to patients, conducts nutrition assessments, and supervises the work of Food Production Supervisor directly related to clinical patient services.Responsible for nutritional care of in-center dialysis and cancer center patients as outlined in federal and state regulations.Participates in state and federal facility inspections as needed.Responsible for upholding medical center policies as delineated in policy and procedure manuals. Develops nutrition related policies as needed.As part of the interdisciplinary team, responsible for patient assessment and plan of care according to regulations and department policy. Responsible for developing or obtaining patient nutrition education materials.Counsels patient, family, significant other or caregiver on prescribed diet and monitors adherence and response to therapy. Reviews monthly lab work on an individual basis and intervene as appropriate in collaboration with patient’s physician.Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team regarding assessing / monitoring dialysis adequacy, renal bone disease, anemia and iron status, and sodium / volume control including monitoring labs and medications. Maintains current progress notes for all patients in compliance with facility policy to assure compliance with regulations and, if applicable, state regulations.Responsible for a comprehensive nutrition assessment within 30 days of admission, 90 days, then annually or more often as indicated for ESRD patients, and monthly monitoring for acute kidney injury (AKI) patients.Responsible for sharing information with entire healthcare team.Active member of the Dialysis Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement Committee (QAPI).Becomes proficient in MIQS, the dialysis management software.Educates staff, students, and new dietitians on renal nutrition.Communicates with long and short-term care facilities, home care, local nutritional programs, and sales representatives and others, as indicated.Participates in department performance improvement activities as assigned and attends required training.
