Position OverviewWe are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Undergraduate Research Assistant to join our interdisciplinary team. The successful candidate will provide crucial support to our ongoing research on fairness in machine learning. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a cutting-edge area of AI research, contributing to the development of socially responsible technology. The research assistant will work closely with faculty and graduate students on a multitude of tasks, from literature review and data analysis to algorithm implementation and evaluation.Job Description 40% - Research Support : Assist faculty with research activities such as data collection, data analysis, literature reviews, and organization of research materials.
25% - Writing and Editing : Contribute to the drafting, editing, and formatting of research manuscripts for submission to academic journals and conferences.
15% - Project Meetings : Participate in regular project meetings with faculty and research teams to discuss progress, brainstorm ideas, and receive feedback.
10% - Conference Preparation and Participation : Assist in the preparation of presentations, posters, or other materials for academic conferences; may include travel and presentation responsibilities if applicable.
10% - Administrative and Logistical Support : Manage research-related documentation, maintain project timelines, and assist with administrative tasks related to grant management, protocols, or submission logistics.Required Qualifications

Position RequirementsDuring the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must : (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA / GTA / GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).Employment Conditions(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.
(2) This is an hourly / non-exempt position.
