About The Position

Job Title : Cardiac Sonographer

Profession : Radiology / Cardiology

Specialty : Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer

Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : Day

Hours per Shift : 8 hours (variable start times between 7 : 00 AM and 9 : 00 AM)

Experience : Minimum one year of cardiac experience required.

License : Registered in echocardiography (RCS or RDCS).

Certifications : BLS certified through the American Heart Association only.

Must-Have : Successful completion of a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) approved ultrasound program, Associate Degree in Biological Sciences, Radiology, Ultrasound, or relevant health sciences field.

Description :

Perform professional-level assessments and a variety of non-invasive studies using ultrasound and related diagnostic technology.

Record results and clinical preliminary impressions as indicated.

Communicate preliminary impressions of examination results to supervising physicians.

Perform examinations using both stationary and portable equipment.

Assist with transthoracic echo, transesophageal, and stress testing including dobutamine and treadmill exercise stress echo.

Evaluate anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic disease processes through cognitive sonographic skills.

Serve as a clinical instructor for ultrasound programs and participate in the instruction of fellows, residents, and visiting physicians.

Engage in clinical research and act as a clinical resource to staff.

Exams are performed within standard protocols on adults and geriatric patients, and occasionally on adolescents and pediatric age groups.

Must administer ultrasound enhancement agents for specific studies.

Complete an expectation of seven scans per day while meeting the required pace and volume.

May participate in floating between multiple units based on staffing needs.

May require weekend coverage and occasional on-call responsibilities.
