Our Communications externship is managed by our Communications team with oversight by the Marketing and Communications Leadership Team.

This is an 11-week summer program designed for rising sophomores and juniors majoring in communications or a related field. Externs will be matched to an 11-week project based on their skills and the Communications business needs, focusing on customer experience initiatives and customer centricity.

What will you learn?

Externs will gain insights into communication strategy, planning, and execution by completing a project with tangible and measurable deliverables that impact our customers and the Bank.

What will you do?

Externs will be assigned a mentor, an experienced Communication leader, who will provide guidance, professional development opportunities, and insights into the Bank’s culture and operations. They will write external communications such as press releases, media alerts, and internal feature stories.

The program includes networking and development opportunities, such as speaker series, team meetings, customer meetings, and additional training.

At the end of the program, externs will present their projects to their mentor and the Communications Leadership Team, showcasing their work and receiving feedback to prepare for a successful career.

Location :

This in-person externship will be hosted at Fifth Third Bank’s headquarters in Cincinnati, OH, with many sites across the country.

Requirements :

• Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
• Rising sophomore or junior undergraduate student majoring in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field
• Work, internship, or co-op experience is helpful but not required
• Desire for a career in communications or marketing
• Proven accomplishments and results-oriented mindset
• Excellent interpersonal and professional communication skills
• Ability to interact with employees and leaders at all organizational levels
• Must be willing to relocate to Cincinnati if not local
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future
