As a proud part of UAB Medicine, UAB Callahan Eye is committed to delivering innovation at every level of eye care and critical research that will keep all of us seeing clearly into the future.\n\nJob Description\n\nThe Registered Nurse specializing in peri-operative nursing practice performs nursing activities in the peri-operative, intraoperative, and postoperative phase of the patient's surgical experience. Peri-operative nursing provides continuity of care designed to meet individual patient needs through the nursing process.\n\nWhile the peri-operative nurse works in collaboration with other health professionals to determine and meet patient needs, the nurse has primary responsibility and accountability for the nursing care of patients having surgical intervention. Participates on teams created to improve outcome quality through process improvement and team technologies.\n\nBachelor's degree in nursing required. Master's degree in nursing, Business, or Healthcare Administration is preferred. Five (5) to seven (7) years of related experience in surgical services required. Prior management experience is preferred. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirements.
