Hosts are responsible for greeting customers in a friendly manner and organizing table seating based on reservations. This is a great position for someone looking to get started in the hospitality field. Work is split between our candle lit indoor dining room and our beautiful outdoor stage located along the Downtown Riverwalk.
Located in downtown Tampa, the Straz offers flexible hours, event-based schedules including evenings and weekends, and a team-based work environment. Straz benefits for part-time staff include employee discounts and a 403(b) plan.
Essential Functions :
- Creates a friendly and welcoming environment for Center guests.
- Provides excellent customer service in a professional manner.
- Maintains high standards of personal appearance and grooming which includes wearing the proper uniform and nametag when working.
- Demonstrates knowledge of Straz Center, menu, and products.
- Performs side work at the start and end of each shift, as required.
- Maintains clean service and dining areas.
- Assists servers as situations arise.
- Assists bus person with clearing and resetting tables, if necessary.
Minimum Qualifications :
Ability to work nights, weekends, and some holidays.Basic knowledge of dining room and service procedures and functions.Professional oral communication skills. Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language of the restaurant.Strong customer service skills.Friendly, outgoing demeanor.Professional and well-groomed appearance.Works well under pressure. Maintains poise and confidence.Displays good organizational and time management skills.Works well with others in a team environment.Basic math skills and have the ability to accurately handle money.Education and Work Experience :
High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred.Prior experience as a Host in a full-service, high-volume restaurant preferred, but not required.Physical Demands :
