Duties & Responsibilities
Operate equipment to unload sugar from railcars, such as food grade pumps or pneumatic systems.
Ensure proper connection and disconnection of unloading equipment to railcars.Inspection and Maintenance :Inspect railcars for safety and cleanliness before and after unloading.
Perform minor maintenance or adjustments on unloading equipment as required.Quality Assurance :Monitor sugar quality during unloading, ensuring it meets company standards.
Document and report any discrepancies or contamination issues.Safety and Compliance :Follow all safety protocols to prevent accidents and spills.
Comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies regarding food safety and handling.Coordination and Communication :Collaborate with logistics teams to ensure timely unloading schedules.
Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding any operational issues or delays.Recordkeeping :Maintain accurate records of unloaded quantities, railcar IDs, and related documentation.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.Experience in industrial or warehouse operations, particularly with railcar unloading, is a plus.Basic mechanical skills for operating and maintaining unloading equipment.Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols.Physical ability to lift heavy objects, climb railcars, and work in various weather conditions.Valid Driver's License Required.Working Conditions
Outdoor and indoor environments, often exposed to varying weather conditions.May require standing, bending, climbing, and lifting for extended periods.Exposure to loud equipment noise with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).Skills & Attributes
