American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU assignment requiring Level I trauma and strong dysrhythmia skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 24-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) in an acute care, Level I trauma settingPrimarily cares for post-cardiac surgery, transplant, thoracic, and critically ill cardiovascular patientsPatient ratios range from 1 : 1 to 1 : 2, with a high number of 1 : 1 assignmentsUses Cerner EMR and Phillips telemetry equipment12-hour night shifts, 7 : 00pm-7 : 00am, with three weekend shifts required per four-week periodExpected to work two out of four major holidays during assignmentNurses must float to other ICUs, all telemetry units, and to the Westgate campus as needed; patient ratios on tele units are 4 : 1Charge RN does not take an assignment; nurse aides (PCTs) are available on both days and nights with high censusStrong IV skills needed as no designated IV team on staffRNs are responsible for advanced cardiac and critically ill patient care, including participation in bedside procedures and post-operative managementIntensivist available during days and on-call at night; RT and Pharmacy coverage provided 24 / 7Travelers must have their own vehicles for transportation between campuses if neededSIMs Lab and orientation includes skills assessment on sterile technique, lifts, restraints, and wound careFirst-day pass / fail SIMs Lab for key nursing skills; failing two attempts on required exams results in ineligibility for future assignments for six monthsNavy scrubs are requiredReturning staff are not eligible if employed by any related facility within the past year\n \n Requirements\n
Active AZ or compact state RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not acceptedMinimum of two years' recent ICU experience required, with Level I trauma and CVICU experience strongly preferredCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications required; CCRN certification preferredPassing score on a basic or advanced dysrhythmia (Relias) exam required prior to offer; two attempts permittedMust pass a hands-on sterile technique test for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on day one of orientationMust possess strong IV access skills and experience with bedside procedures such as IABP, CRRT, ECMO, CABG, and SwansMust have natural hair color and no facial piercings; men must be clean shaven for fit testingRequired to provide references including at least one supervisor from the past 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from the past three yearsMust reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel rate\n Benefits\n
