Department / Unit Summary

A Dialysis Nurse plays a crucial role in our hospital, focusing on patients with acute or chronic kidney failure. As a specialized Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide lifesaving dialysis treatments, ensuring the removal of toxins, excess fluids, and waste from the blood when kidneys fail to function properly.

You will care for critically ill patients, those recovering from surgery, or individuals requiring emergency dialysis due to sudden kidney failure. Your responsibilities will include operating and monitoring dialysis machines, assessing patients throughout their treatment, managing complications such as low blood pressure, and adhering strictly to infection control measures.

Beyond technical skills, you will also provide essential education and emotional support to patients and their families, helping them navigate the dialysis process, dietary restrictions, and long-term care plans. You will collaborate with nephrologists, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive kidney care.

With a strong focus on critical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive under pressure, you will play an integral role in stabilizing and improving the health of patients with renal conditions.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Staffing and Scheduling : Manage nurse schedules to ensure adequate coverage across all units, addressing any gaps due to absences or increased patient acuity.
  • Resource Allocation : Assign nursing staff based on patient needs and staff competencies to ensure optimal care delivery.
  • Crisis Management : Respond to emergencies, implementing appropriate protocols and coordinating with relevant departments.
  • Communication : Serve as a liaison among nursing staff, physicians, patients, families, and hospital administration, ensuring smooth information flow and addressing concerns.
  • Policy Enforcement : Uphold hospital policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
  • Patient Flow Coordination : Monitor patient admissions, transfers, and discharges to maximize bed utilization and improve patient care services.
  • Mentorship and Support : Provide guidance to nursing staff, addressing clinical questions and facilitating professional development.

  • Qualifications and requirements :

    Applicants must possess a current state RN license and hold an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include :

  • Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of hire
  • ACLS and PALS certifications required within six months of hire
  • One year of nursing experience preferred
  • ASLS certification preferred
