Associate Attorney for Nonprofits, Transactional ( Hybrid )

Position Overview : Legal for Good, a woman-owned law firm founded in 2010 that focuses on advising nonprofit organizations, is seeking a highly skilled Associate Attorney with knowledge of nonprofit law to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive legal support to our new and existing nonprofit clients and will help manage a team of support professionals. Key Responsibilities : Advise and assist nonprofit organizations with legal matters from incorporation through dissolution. Provide guidance on nonprofit governance issues, tax-exempt status, and other nonprofit-business and tax related matters, acting as a key resource for nonprofit organizations, their boards of directors, and their key staff. Draft, review, and negotiate various legal documents, including mergers, asset transfers, simple and complex contracts, and policies / procedures tailored to the unique needs of each nonprofit organization. Conduct thorough legal research and provide detailed legal opinions and advice. Help lead a team of support professionals. Qualifications : Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Admission to the Minnesota state bar. Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience specifically in nonprofit business and tax law, with a preference for 3-5 years overall attorney experience. Knowledge of Minnesota employment laws and regulations is a plus. Knowledge of data privacy and protection laws is a plus. Excellent research and analytical skills. Exceptional attention to detail. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to provide clear, effective, and pragmatic advice and guidance.
