Overview

Lac Seul First Nation is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to serve as the Director of Youth Services & Community Recreation. Under the supervision of the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director will lead, plan, and oversee a wide range of youth services, community recreation, and wellness initiatives. This leadership role is responsible for fostering youth engagement, promoting active lifestyles, enhancing cultural connections, and supporting at-risk youth through strategic programming, case management, and community partnerships.

The Director will oversee all departmental functions, including program design, policy development, budgeting, staffing, and reporting. The position also includes responsibilities previously associated with the Choose Life program, ensuring that youth have access to culturally grounded, land-based, and recreational opportunities that promote healthy living and personal growth.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a strategic plan for youth services and recreation, aligned with community priorities and cultural values.
  • Design, coordinate, oversee and attend, recreational, cultural, and educational programs for youth, including land-based and traditional activities.
  • Identify at-risk youth and provide case management, assessment, and referrals to appropriate supports.
  • Advocate for youth needs and interests within the community and at external forums.
  • Collaborate with families, elders, schools, and community members to develop responsive and inclusive programming.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with other LSFN departments, local organizations, and external agencies to expand services.
  • Promote events and opportunities through effective outreach and communication.
  • Attend department and community events to support staff and build positive relationships with community youth, parents and elders.
  • Provide training and professional development opportunities to enhance program delivery.
  • Manage departmental budgets, ensuring accountability and adherence to financial policies.
  • Identify, apply for, and manage funding opportunities to sustain and grow programs.
  • Maintain accurate program data collection and reporting in compliance with funding agreements.

Location : Frenchman's Head, Lac Seul ON

Rate : Wages start at $44.99 / hour

  • based on qualifications and experience.
  • Term : Full-Time, Term (1 year)

    Hours : 35 hours per week
