Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift ICU position requiring a current CA RN license and advanced cardiovascular certifications.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in a 20-bed ICU / CCU in an acute care hospital setting
  • Night shifts are 12 hours from 7pm to 7 : 30am, with every other weekend required
  • Nurses are required to float to IMCU (stepdown) or Observation as needed
  • Nurses monitor neuro, cardiac, and post-surgical cases including craniotomies, carotids, ventriculostomies, ICP monitoring, open heart, post-caths, impellas, and balloon pumps
  • Patient ratios are typically 1 : 2, may be 1 : 1 for higher acuity
  • IV drips managed include vasoactive medications (vaso, levophed, norepinephrine, propofol, fentanyl, etc.)
  • Ventilator management required
  • EMR is Cerner; prior experience preferred but not required
  • Self-scheduling is utilized but not always guaranteed
  • Nurses are responsible for strip interpretation and management of vasoactive drips
  • Support from charge nurse and nurse aides during certain shifts
  • RT and pharmacy support available 24 / 7
  • Travelers may take post-open heart and balloon pump patients if skills are validated
  • Scrub color is navy
  • Three shifts of unit-specific orientation are provided
  • Holiday coverage follows facility rotation and typically includes one major and one minor holiday
  • Previous direct employees of the health system in the past year are not eligible
  • First-time travelers will be considered
  • No CRRT or ECMO
  • \n \n Requirements\n

  • Active CA RN license required at time of consideration; compact or pending licenses are not accepted
  • Minimum of 3 years' current ICU experience is required
  • Certifications required : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
  • PALS certification preferred but not mandatory
  • Must be able to interpret cardiac rhythms; no monitor tech support provided
  • Recent neuro or cardiac ICU experience is welcome
  • Two clinical references required : one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years
  • Must provide a copy of a valid driver’s license for consideration
