Description :

This position is for a registered nurse specializing in medical-surgical and pediatrics.

You will be responsible for caring for both adult and pediatric patients.

Common patient diagnoses include urinary tract infections, altered mental status, pneumonia, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Currently, there are 17 beds on the unit, with a mix of inpatient and observation patients.

The nurse-to-patient ratio during the day shift is 1 : 4 and 1 : 5 during the night shift.

Charge nurses are available on each shift and also take patient assignments.

Nursing assistants are present on the unit with a ratio of 2 : 15 during the day and 1 : 15 during the night.

A pediatrician is available on call for pediatric patients and is not managed by the hospitalist.

Registered nurses on this unit typically troubleshoot respiratory therapy equipment but do not manage ventilators.

Telemetry monitoring is done with ICU monitors, with registered nurses applying telemetry to patients.

Self-scheduling is allowed for shifts.

Weekend work is required as needed, and there are no holiday requirements.

Floating may be required to the emergency department or intensive care unit for one-on-one patient care as needed.

The dress code is navy blue scrubs, and scrubs are not provided.

Candidates should possess strong communication skills and be willing to ask questions when uncertain.

Documentation can be complex, so attention to detail is necessary for success in this role.

The facility reserves the right to cancel up to four shifts during the assignment.
