Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details Location : Urbana, IL 61801 (Illinois nursing jobs) Unit : Cardiac Stepdown Unit (CV MedSurg) Employment Type : Travel RN / Locum Tenens Start Date : October 20, 2025 End Date : January 17, 2026 Assignment Length : 13 weeks Shift : Nights, 7 : 00 PM – 7 : 30 AM Hours per Week : 36 (3x12 hour shifts) Estimated Weekly Pay : $2130–$2190 per week Registered Nurse Qualifications Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) License in good standing Minimum three (3) years of recent cardiac stepdown or medical-surgical nursing experience Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred BLS (Basic Life Support) certification – American Heart Association ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification – American Heart Association Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities Deliver direct patient care to cardiovascular and post-operative cardiac patients, including CABG, thoracotomy, and vascular surgery cases Conduct initial patient assessments and develop individualized care plans Implement, monitor, and modify nursing interventions and patient care procedures Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all nursing care provided Promote patient and staff safety by identifying and addressing safety concerns Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes Participate in departmental and hospital competency programs Perform hourly rounding and provide proactive support to patients and colleagues Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Discover the benefits of working in Urbana, IL—home to the University of Illinois, a lively arts scene, and a thriving food culture.
