Summary : Provide essential patient care in a fast-paced emergency department setting. Assist with patient admissions, orientation, and daily care activities while maintaining a safe and clean environment. Collaborate with nursing staff to support the implementation of care plans and ensure patient needs are promptly addressed.

Major Responsibilities :

  • Assist patients during admission and orient them to unit routines and equipment.
  • Respond to patient needs directly or by communicating with appropriate team members.
  • Carry out delegated nursing care tasks to support patient well-being.
  • Maintain patient safety through proper use of equipment and supplies.
  • Manage and restock supplies to ensure a well-organized patient care area.
  • Participate in cost containment efforts and accurate patient service charging.
  • Engage in ongoing education and performance improvement activities.
  • Perform waived testing and maintain required skills per unit competency.
  • Demonstrate commitment to customer satisfaction and efficient patient throughput.

Education : High school diploma or equivalent required. Nursing Assistant certification mandatory. Current registration with the appropriate state nursing assistant registry is necessary.

Experience : No prior experience required; on-the-job training provided.

Skills and Abilities : Excellent communication and guest relations skills. Ability to read and write English. Flexibility in work tasks and schedules. Basic computer proficiency. Understanding of age-specific patient care considerations. Ability to accept supervision and learn new techniques.

Physical Requirements : Ability to work variable shifts with frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and patient turning. Visual and auditory acuity necessary for patient observation. Exposure to blood and body fluids may occur, requiring adherence to safety protocols.

Licenses and Certifications : BLS certification from the American Heart Association and current Nursing Assistant certification required.
