Schedule : 7-On / 7-Off Night Shift | 8 : 00 PM – 7 : 00 AM | Starting Thursdays
Position Overview :
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Pharmacy Technician to join our hospital pharmacy team in Morristown, NJ . This is a night shift position working seven consecutive nights (Thursday–Wednesday), followed by seven days off . The ideal candidate will bring prior experience in hospital pharmacy settings, including sterile compounding and automated dispensing systems. Experience in oncology or infusion center environments is a plus.
Key Responsibilities :
- Filling Orders :
- Accurately fills medication orders for pharmacist review and dispensing
- Prepares extemporaneous and compounded preparations as needed
- Restocks carts, trays, and kits; documents work with legible signatures
- Performs patient profile notations, bin / cart exchanges, and medication returns
- Medication Distribution and Returns :
- Handles requests via phone, fax, computer, and in-person
- Distributes medications using pneumatic tubes, courier, or direct delivery
- Sorts and processes medication returns from nursing units
- Teamwork and Departmental Support :
- Collaborates with pharmacy staff and adheres to departmental guidelines
- Supports Atlantic Health's strategic and operational goals
- Sterile Preparations :
- Prepares IVs aseptically, including total parenteral nutrition and hazardous drugs
- Batches IV medications, maintains records, and monitors for waste reduction
- Ensures compliance with safety and sterile handling procedures
- Automated Dispensing Machines (ADM) :
- Fills, maintains, and troubleshoots ADMs
- Removes expired medications, processes discrepancies, and completes monthly inspections
- Repackaging and Inventory Control :
- Repackages and labels oral medications; ensures barcode compliance
- Monitors and pulls expired stock; handles medication recalls
- Restocks supplies and maintains organization of inventory
- Performance & Customer Service :
- Provides courteous service to patients, staff, and allied health professionals
- Participates in departmental performance improvement and cost-saving initiatives
- Maintains workflow in collaboration with pharmacists
Qualifications : Required :
High school diploma or GEDCurrent active registration with the New Jersey Board of PharmacyMinimum 2 years of hospital pharmacy experiencePreferred :
Certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)Oncology or infusion center experienceWork Schedule :
