Job Description
The DSP for Residential Programs provides for the day-to-day care, nurturing, supervision, support, and development of the individuals assigned. This position is part-time either AM or PM. Must be available to work every other weekend.
Job Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Maintains accurate and orderly procedures for monitoring and documenting individuals’ medications
- Assists in the ongoing medical care of individuals
- Provides transportation to individuals as needed
- Assures ongoing relationship and environment that promotes the individuals’ feelings of self-worth
- Structure : Maintains the integrity of the program structure and ensures a healthy environment of the program as indicated by :
Fills in the gaps of the basic schedule with positive learning opportunities and experiences for individuals
Is flexible enough to manage any unexpected challenges with minimal disruption of the scheduleAssists the individuals with their daily life skill needsFollows a person-centered curriculum according to the individual’s needs and strengthsDocumentation : Effectively communicate written information to the right people in such a way as to establish an accurate record of everyone’s progress (daily notes, ISP goals, bowel tracking, seizure tracking, skin integrity, incident / accident reporting, etc) .Helps promote an appealing, clean, healthy, and safe environment that is conducive to positive change.Establishes and maintains an environment that promotes the safety of the individuals as evidenced by :Being aware of individuals whereabouts and attitudes
Being aware of hazards and efforts to eliminate themReporting illness and injuries to appropriate staffComplete maintenance requests forms in a timely mannerParticipate and assist in all required safety drillsOperates and maintains agency vehicles in a safe manner per policyMaintains high household standards (including cleaning, organization)Has a systematic approach to laundry needs.Prepares and / or assists in preparation of meals according to agency standardsSupervision : Maintains supervision of individuals in accordance with program guidelinesParticipates in activities with individualsCrisis Management : Ability to handle crises in such a manner so as not to compromise the positive milieu of other individuals and / or programRelationship Building : Develop and maintain effective relationshipsUnderstands how own emotions can affect individual’s care and where that impact is non-productive
