Instructor, Process Technology - Adjunct (Pool Req)

SUMMARY

Provide the expertise and knowledge that support the college curriculum and programs. Establish courses following accepted higher education standards, teach students using a variety of effective methodologies and provide engagement and support activities that encourage student learning. The role of the Instructional Faculty encompasses teaching and learning, academic advising, professional development and institutional and community service. The incumbent will teach a maximum load of (See Faculty Workload Guidelines) contact hours each semester in area(s) of competency and participate as a part-time instructor in the activities of the department, division and college.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (Other duties may be assigned) :

• Teach courses in Process Technology.
• Actively participate in the development and updates of the competency-based curriculum and instructional materials in Process Technology.
• Actively recruit and advise students and coordinate job placement and other external learning experiences.
• Act as liaison with industry, GCPTA and related organizations.
• Recommend and assist the Chair in the purchasing of equipment and maintain equipment and supplies inventory. Maintain instruments.
• Assist the Chair in the planning, budgeting, and management process for the Process Technology program and participate in various Science Technology Division activities.
• Coordinate adjunct faculty assignments.
• Actively participate in all program evaluation, graduate follow-up and other tasks as required by Institution, State, accrediting agencies, to ensure adherence to quality standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above. The qualifications listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills and / or abilities required.

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree or higher in Science, Engineering or in a related field is required. Exceptional experience in a directly related field may be substituted in lieu of Bachelor's degree. Master's Degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE

Three (3) years experience of industry related experience.

Direct experience with process operations including startups and shutdowns.

Experience with supervision / training of process operators.

Experience in the development of curriculum and instructional materials; Instruction experience at college level preferred.
