Construction Materials Technician
Job Description
As a Construction Materials Technician, you will be responsible for field and / or laboratory testing, construction observation, and inspection of construction materials including soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel. Your role will involve communicating test results clearly and concisely with appropriate individuals, tabulating and calculating laboratory results, and preparing field reports. Additionally, you will maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas, and occasionally work with a drill rig during geotechnical investigations.
Responsibilities
Conduct field and laboratory testing of construction materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel.
Observe and inspect construction materials to ensure compliance with standards.
Communicate test results clearly and effectively with relevant stakeholders.
Tabulate and calculate laboratory results and prepare detailed field reports.
Maintain and clean testing equipment, vehicles, and work areas.
Occasionally assist with drill rig operations during geotechnical investigations.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in ACI, concrete, materials testing, soil testing, and construction materials testing.
Minimum ACI Field Grade I certification.
At least 1 year of experience in nuclear density testing of soils and concrete testing.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable violation history.
Work Environment
The work schedule depends on the time of year, typically requiring 45-55 hours per week. The usual working hours are from 7 : 30 AM to 5 or 6 PM, with a rotation for Saturdays, though availability to work every Saturday if needed is required. During the slower period of December to March, the hours are Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 4 : 30 or 5 PM.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oxford, Mississippi.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $21.00 / hr.
