Job Title
Responsible for obtaining and tracking authorization for all patients for whom their insurance requires pre-authorization, and ensuring the agency has the authorization required to bill for services provided.
Responsibilities
- Answer telephones and provide excellent customer service to our professional staff and insurance representatives
- Run and utilize computer reports regularly
- Observe confidentiality and safeguard all patient related information
- Provide accurate, complete updates to Agency management on status of authorizations for all patients requiring treatment authorization
- Ensures authorization is obtained and tracked for all patients whose insurance requires pre-authorization
- Is responsible for seeing that objectives are implemented, follows, and promotes agency policies and procedures
- Ensure all authorization requests are documented clearly
- Participate in the orientation and education of other employees as relates to Authorization department
- Observes confidentiality and safeguard all patient related information
- Notifies Supervisor of problems in a timely manner and works to help provide solutions
- Completes ongoing education requirements and demonstrates ongoing competency in required areas
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
High school graduate or GEDMinimum of one year of experience in Health Care billing and / or authorization practicesGeneral knowledge of the framework, organization, and function of home careSound knowledge of health care operations and third-party reimbursementProficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer) with the ability to learn industry specific software applicationsSolid organizational skills, thoroughness, and a keen attention to detail with the ability to multi-task while prioritizing effectivelyAbility to work independently and in a team environmentExcellent, oral, written, and interpersonal communication skillsProfessional appearance and demeanorAbout Our Line of Business
