Job Description
The Laboratory Technologist is responsible for performing waived laboratory tests in a mobile or remote setting under the supervision of the Laboratory Manager. This role includes specimen handling, quality control, testing, and data entry, as well as occasional operation of a delivery van to support mobile lab functions.
Key Responsibilities :
Receive and process specimens from phlebotomists and couriers.
Operate a mobile lab van to designated areas when required.
Enter patient demographics and test orders into the lab information system.
Perform point-of-care testing in Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Molecular, and Coagulation.
Check and monitor quality control for each test, ensuring accuracy and reporting issues promptly.
Collect blood specimens via venipuncture and capillary methods.
Confirm and escalate abnormal or rare test results to supervisors.
Maintain and troubleshoot instruments, supplies, and reagents.
Monitor STAT board and ensure timely turnaround for urgent results.
Perform data entry, maintain records, and comply with safety and documentation requirements.
Follow all health and safety policies to minimize risks associated with biological or hazardous materials.
Requirements
Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Phlebotomy and laboratory testing experience preferred.
Ability to qualify as testing personnel in California (licensed Medical Laboratory Technician or Licensed Vocational Nurse).
Excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail.
Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or provide approved exemption documentation.
Physical Demands
Frequent standing, handling, talking, and hearing.
Occasional walking, sitting, kneeling, or crouching.
Ability to lift or move up to 15 lbs routinely; up to 50 lbs with equipment assistance.
Requires close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
No color vision deficiency.
