We are founder-led, profitable, and growing. We are hiring an Associate Support Engineer to support customers leveraging Ubuntu and open source products. This role offers hands-on experience, a passion for Linux and open source, and the opportunity to work with industry experts at Canonical.

You will solve complex technical problems across cloud environments, desktop and server issues, Linux kernel crashes, OS configuration issues, and root cause analysis. You will own and manage support cases, ensuring excellent customer support across cloud, desktop, and IoT platforms. This is a remote role.

Location :

This is a globally remote role.

Role responsibilities :

  • Providing technical support from your home office via phone, email, and web.
  • Owning and resolving support cases, updating customers, and meeting SLAs.
  • Creating and maintaining knowledge base articles.
  • Drafting technical notices and communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prioritizing tasks and continuously learning about evolving products and services.
  • Understanding Ubuntu development processes to set realistic customer expectations.
  • Communicating regularly with team members locally and remotely.
  • Suggesting improvements to service delivery.
  • Participating in weekend rotation support.

Qualifications :

  • Strong academic record from high school and university.
  • Degree in a technical field (e.g., Computer Science, Electrical Engineering) or equivalent experience.
  • Confidence in communication and feedback exchange.
  • Proven ability to exceed expectations.
  • Experience troubleshooting Linux systems.
  • Knowledge or experience in at least two of the following : Linux server administration, programming fundamentals, networking, virtualization / cloud computing.
  • Quick learner, adaptable, and able to handle customer-facing pressures.
  • Excellent English communication skills.
  • Respect for diversity and cultural sensitivity.
  • Result-driven with a strong commitment to commitments.
  • Willingness to travel internationally twice a year for up to two weeks.
  • Background checks will be conducted.

    Nice-to-have skills :

  • Experience with virtualized environments like KVM, VirtualBox, VMWare.
  • Experience with open-source desktop technologies.
  • Contributions to open-source projects or forums.
