Child Care Center Unit Supervisor
The Department of Children, Youth, and Families is hiring for a Child Care Center Unit Supervisor. This position exists in the Office of Inspector General (OIG), Licensing Division, within the Child Care Center Licensing and Certification Unit. The role is to manage statewide licensure / certification of childcare centers.
Responsibilities include :
Interpreting state laws and rules that apply to licensed programs to ensure inspections and investigations are conducted as required and licensing actions are completed in accordance with regulations.
Managing the workflow and output of the unit, including overseeing the operations of the unit and conducting and participating in internal and external meetings, task force groups, and workgroups.
Managing staff, including hiring, supervising, evaluating, and taking disciplinary action if needed.
Minimum Qualifications :
Four (4) years of experience with licensed or certified childcare centers that includes monitoring / ensuring compliance with applicable state laws and rules.
Experience must demonstrate knowledge of state and federal rules, regulations and laws applicable to childcare centers, collecting and analyzing information or data, overseeing projects and / or work of others, identifying and resolving problems, complex cases, or licensing issues, and demonstrated leadership experience.
Preferred Qualifications :
Contemporary methods used in providing services to children in licensed or certified childcare centers.
Experience with methods to investigate issues and monitor compliance with regulatory requirements.
Knowledge of administrative, civil and criminal law affecting the licensing function and actions.
Variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures.
Additional Requirements :
The individual selected for this position will successfully complete a background investigation prior to employment, which may include a reference check, criminal background check, fingerprinting check, and personnel file review.
