Since 1963, Sheakley has been a leader in safety management outsourcing. We are seeking an experienced Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) to oversee safety operations for our client in Albany, GA. This role is an excellent opportunity for a proactive safety professional with a strong construction background to make a lasting impact on a high-profile USACE project.

Position Details

Hourly Rate : $59.50 / hr (local) | $52 / hr (non-local)

Per Diem : $125 / day (7 days per week)

Completion Bonus : $150 / month

Pay Frequency : Weekly

Schedule : Monday–Friday | 40–50 hrs / week

Project Scope

The SSHO will oversee all site safety during the construction of an Army Reserve Center , coordinating safety efforts across multiple trades.

Qualifications

EM 385-1-1 certification

10 years of experience on USACE / NAVFAC sites

CPR / First Aid certification

Key Responsibilities

Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments

Support incident investigations, reporting, and corrective action implementation

Deliver safety training and orientation for employees, subcontractors, and new hires

Collaborate with project teams to proactively identify and mitigate risks

Maintain accurate safety performance, incident, and compliance documentation

Promote a safety-first culture across all project levels

Skills & Knowledge

Skills :

Strong public speaking and communication abilities

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities

Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Professionalism and discretion with sensitive information

Knowledge :

In-depth understanding of EHS and industry regulatory standards

Ability to effectively communicate safety principles and enforce compliance
