Home & Community Based Services Support Specialist I

This full-time, in-office position supports the Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) department that delivers medical, social, and supportive services to Iowans with functional, cognitive, or physical / mental health needs. The role is an essential part of a mission to empower people to achieve individual goals.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the HCBS Programmer to assist with documentation of service plans.
  • Maintain accurate records for individuals served.
  • Answer routine telephone calls and disseminate messages in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records, correspondence, and incoming mail for the HCBS teams.
  • Create and distribute various forms and reports to the team.
  • Collect and disburse funds from petty cash, maintaining accurate records of all collections and disbursements.
  • Advocate for individuals receiving services to have control over their own lives, treating all individuals with respect and empowerment.

  • Physical Demands

  • May require lifting up to 35 pounds (use mechanical or assistive equipment for heavier loads).
  • May require prolonged sitting, working at a computer up to eight hours.
  • May require frequent bending, stooping, and stretching.
  • May require prolonged standing up to eight hours.
  • Must wear hearing and eye protection in required areas.
