PROJECT MANAGER
Job Summary :
The Project Manager is responsible for scheduling, planning, and supervising a wide variety of highway construction projects from beginning to end. This position requires proper knowledge of construction methodologies and procedures, ability to coordinate and communicate with personnel across different disciplines, control costs associated with construction projects and display great organizational skills.
Reports to : Vice President of Construction / Area Manager-Central Texas
Supervisory Responsibilities : None
Essential Functions :
- Oversee construction projects from beginning to end.
- Monitors construction schedules and future projections.
- Ensure supplies and equipment are ordered and delivered on schedule.
- Predict resources needed to complete construction projects.
- Compile and plan budgets, cost estimates, and other financial estimates.
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Obtain necessary permits, approvals, and other regulatory prerequisites.
- Provide direction over contracts and subcontracts.
- Collaborate with engineers, vendors, contractors, and subcontracts.
- Draft progress reports as needed regarding timelines and costs.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Knowledge in principles and procedures of construction management, project management and / or construction engineering.Expert in time management and organizational skills.Ability to create multiple budgets, timelines, and schedules.Superior attention to detail is imperative.Excellent communication at all levels of the organization and with external clients.Bilingual Spanish preferred.Education & Experience :
High School / GED education required.Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, engineering, or related technical field preferred.One or two (2-3) years of experience in a construction industry preferred.Excellent knowledge of construction materials and equipment preferred.Familiarity reading and understanding blueprints and drawings.Ability to budget, schedule, negotiate and control costs.Knowledge of commercial construction processes and principles.Familiarity with quality and health and safety standards.PMP or equivalent certification is a plus.Work Environment / Physical Demands :
Minimum workweek will be 40 hours with extra time as required to fulfill position responsibilities.Working in an office environment while working on a computer.May be required to travel to jobsites on occasion. Jobsite conditions will vary depending on type of work being performed; however, employee may be exposed to dust and noise while on a jobsite.Wearing protective apparel, such as boots and hard hats.MICA Corporation is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer.
