Nurse Practitioner - Springfield, IL
Full-time or Part-time Opportunity Available!
Salary = $100,000-$120,000 annually
JOB SUMMARY :
The Nurse Practitioner is a primary health care provider who provides nursing and medical services to the youth in the residential programs in collaboration with the Medical Director and other attending physicians. In addition to diagnosing and managing acute episodic and chronic illnesses, the Nurse Practitioner will emphasize health promotion and disease prevention.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
1. Acts as primary healthcare provider to all students living in our Residential Academy.
2. Assessment of health status
3. Establish Diagnosis for common short-term and chronic stable health conditions
4. Development of a Treatment Plan
5. Implementation of Treatment Plan
6. Follow up and Evaluation of Youth Status
7. Care Priorities
Promotions, maintenance, and restoration of health
Consultation with other appropriate health care personnel
Appropriate utilization of health care resources
8. Participates as a team member in assessing, planning, and implementing intra-agency initiatives to facilitate youth and family desired outcomes
9. Participates as a team member in the provision of health and medical care by interacting with professional colleagues to provide comprehensive care to meet youth and family desired outcomes.
10. Maintains accurate, legible, and confidential records
11. Acts as a patient and family advocate
12. Participates in quality assurance reviews on a periodic basis
13. Maintains current knowledge by literature review, and attending continuing education programs
14. Maintains national certification in specialty area
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions include a school for youth with autism and other intellectual disabilities; intermittent exposure to loud sounds and potential injury (due to loud youth verbalizations and youth aggressive behaviors). Environment is fast-paced, and requires frequent interaction with staff, students, parents, and administrators. Typical day will require seeing student patients in the clinic. Intermittent standing and sitting.
TRAINING, ACADEMIC AND EXPERIENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Master of Science in Nursing
2. Nurse Practitioner, Concentration in Pediatrics or Family
3. Registered Nurse, licensed in the State of Illinois
4. Advanced Practice Nurse, licensed in the State of Illinois
5. Eligible for Controlled Substance licensure by State of Illinois and Drug Enforcement Agency
6. Certified as a Nurse Practitioner by a National Accrediting Nursing Organization
7. 5 years of experience in the health care of children
