POSITION OVERVIEW
The Superintendent is a critical leadership role responsible for the on-site management, coordination, and execution of multiple commercial and / or industrial electrical projects. This position supervises field crews across several job sites, ensuring that all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with plans, specifications, and industry standards. The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional with strong technical knowledge, team leadership experience, and the ability to manage competing priorities across diverse projects.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reports directly to the Regional Manager or Project Manager
- Develop relationships with existing and potential new customers.
- Maintain and Manage Change Orders
- Maintain and Manage project schedule
- Turn in timely and thorough daily logs and time sheets
- Coordinate with project management activities for material procurement and delivery, effective utilization of labor hours and overall project performance to meet / exceed quoted cost performance.
- Effectively allocate existing workforce and coordinate securing additional staffing as required according to projects demand.
- Ensure appropriate paperwork is submitted to project manager in a timely manner for each project.
- Actively participate in the estimating and planning process including creation of budget assumptions and strategy development.
- Effectively represent core values and reputation in a positive, professional manner and ensure each crew does the same.
- Ensure proper usage and maintenance of equipment and tools.
- Ensure crews have the appropriate tools, equipment and training to safely and efficiently perform the required tasks for assigned projects.
- Understand and comply / enforce all company policies and procedures.
- Maintain open communication with appropriate Project Manager / Estimators and senior management.
- Attend internal and external training courses which pertain to improving and developing job related business management, leadership, and operational skills.
- On occasion, may have to perform electrical or manual duties to ensure job completion
- Travel to jobsites as needed; Flexibility with work, changing environment and travel required
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
In addition to the job responsibilities, a critical part of your role will to be effectively manage a team of individuals to achieve company objectives, by doing the following :
Oversee daily operations, ensuring tasks are completed on schedule.Assign and prioritize tasks based on team capabilities and project requirements.Provide hands-on guidance and mentorship to team members.Develop and implement work schedules and assignments.Provide feedback regarding staffing needs and levelsInvolved in the feedback and decision making process for selection and hiring process of new team membersMonitor individual and team performance, offering constructive feedbackInvolved in the feedback and often decision making process resulting in formal disciplinary action (including termination) when necessaryConduct performance evaluations and provide feedback.Identify training needs and coordinate development opportunities.Resolve conflicts and address employee concerns promptly.Report on team performance and operational issues to upper management.Ensure compliance with company policies and proceduresFoster a collaborative and positive team environment.Review and approve hours and timecards for direct reports weekly or by deadlines for accuracyQUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE : SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS :
Must be 18 years or older.5+ years of experience and knowledge of project management, scheduling, change orders, etc.Electrical field experience coordinating with construction management. Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in Electrical construction services.Understand electrical drawingsHold an electrical license preferredMust pass a drug / alcohol screen upon offer of employment and subject to safety sensitive drug testingMust possess a valid drivers license with a driving record that meets company insurance requirements.High school Graduate or GED preferredExperience supervising or managing teamsProficient using Excel spreadsheets and Microsoft word, bid and project management software.Must have a strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and possess knowledge of such electrical and controls construction.Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems and perform complex system tests.Ability to manage compliance issues (OSHA, MSHA, First Aid / CPR, PPE, random drug / alcohol screens, etc.).Ability to read and comprehend requests for bid / quote, work orders, electrical drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Ability to communicate with others at all levels of the organization and to assimilate and understand information in a manner consistent with essential job functions.Ability to professionally communicate with the customer and the public.Knowledge and compliance with company safety and disciplinary programs.Demonstrate knowledge of personnel problem-solving techniques.Ability to utilize basic skills of Microsoft Word and Excel.EQUIPMENT & APPLICATIONS / WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
Walking and Standing Frequently moving around job sites, inspecting work, and overseeing installations.Climbing and Balancing Occasionally using ladders, scaffolding, or lifts to inspect elevated electrical work.Lifting and Carrying Lifting materials, plans, or equipment, typically up to 25-50 lbs., though less frequent than field electricians.Crouching and Kneeling Occasionally working in tight spaces to inspect electrical installations.Repetitive Movements Engaging in repetitive motions such as writing, typing, or using hand tools for minor adjustments or inspections.Working in Various Positions Reaching, bending, or holding positions for short durations while reviewing electrical work.Exposure to Weather Spending time outdoors at construction sites in varying conditions, including heat, cold, rain, or wind.Hand and Finger Dexterity Handling documents, using computers, and occasionally working with electrical components or tools.Pay Range : $85,000 - $110,000 / yr and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
