Summary :

The primary purpose of this position is the engineering, design, and pricing of steel structures available under the Icon Shelter brands.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Promotes the Company's mission and values-based culture through positive client communications, cost-effecting engineering designs, and engineering support.
  • Develops engineering calculations for standard and custom shelter projects.
  • Reviews engineered drawings and preliminary designs.
  • Coordinates with the drafting team to ensure drawings match engineering calculations and local building code requirements.
  • Creates and modifies project-specific calculation spreadsheets for steel structures.
  • Designs simple concrete foundations.
  • Supports the inside sales team and external customers with design and engineering consultations.
  • Advises the installation support team in addressing installation-related questions and conflicts.
  • Participates in departmental and company strategic initiatives.

    • Education and / or Experience :

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university required.
  • 0-10 years experience in civil engineering (structural emphasis preferred)
  • P.E. license or ability to obtain within 2 years.

    • Travel :

  • This position requires minimal to no travel

    • Computer Skills :

  • Familiarity with RISA 3D, SAP 2000, or other structural analysis software preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Demonstrated proficiency with 2D or 3D AutoCAD preferred

    • Other Requirements :

  • Familiarity with ASCE 7, AISC 360, and ACI 318 codes preferred
  • Familiarity with International Building Code.

    • Other Skills :

  • Ability and willingness to learn and apply new knowledge for structural steel design.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and product development techniques and processes.
  • Originality and judgment in the independent evaluation of new applications and products.
  • Familiarity with major building codes in the United States and their applications.
