Position Summary
Highway Maintenance Worker I $15.96 - $23.94 / Hourly : Responsible for performing maintenance and repair work on Pueblo County roads and bridges. Work involves performing semi-skilled tasks related to the maintenance and repair of roads, bridges, and other public works structures. Tasks include but are not limited to safely operating equipment, setting up signage / traffic control devices, and physically directing traffic in accordance with safe driving practices in both dry and inclement conditions.
Highway Maintenance Worker II $17.56 - $26.33 / Hourly : Responsible for performing maintenance and repair work on Pueblo County roads and bridges. Work involves performing semi-skilled tasks related to the maintenance and repair of roads, bridges, and other public works structures. Tasks include but are not limited to safely operating equipment, setting up signage / traffic control devices, and physically directing traffic in accordance with safe driving practices in both dry and inclement conditions.
What You Will Do
Highway Maintenance Worker I :
- Assists with manual and mechanized patching of road surfaces.
- Independently operates county trucks and weed mowers; performs vehicle and equipment inspections to ensure safe operating conditions.
- Assists with concrete work, including pouring, forming, and finishing.
- Carries out traffic control procedures.
- Assists with the installation of drainage structures, including culverts; cleans culverts and adjacent areas of dirt and debris as needed.
- Completes tasks in support of road maintenance, including, but not limited to, carpentry work, fence installation, painting, tree trimming, grounds maintenance, refuge removal, and weed mowing / control.
- Monitors and accounts for materials usage.
Highway Maintenance Worker II :
Independently operates county vehicles and various equipment such as weed mowers, single axle dump truck, tandem axle dump truck, water truck, backhoe, power broom, and compaction equipment; performs vehicle and equipment inspections to ensure a safe operating condition.Performs manual and mechanized patching of road surfaces.Concrete work to include pouring, forming, and finishing.Carries out traffic control procedures.Installs drainage structures, including culverts; cleans culverts and adjacent areas of dirt and debris as needed.Completes tasks in support of road maintenance, including, but not limited to, carpentry work, fence installation, jackhammering, painting, erosion and drainage control, cattle guard replacements, tree trimming, grounds maintenance, refuge removal, and weed mowing / control.Performs snowplowing and sanding.Performs bridge maintenance.What You Have
Highway Maintenance Worker I : Preferred Education & Experience :
High School Diploma or GED Equivalency preferred.Minimum of one (1) year or more in the road maintenance or construction field preferred.Required License :
Driver's License upon the date of hire required.Class A CDL Drivers License with tanker and air break endorsements within six (6) months of hire required.Special Requirements :
Must successfully pass background check.Must be able to pass post job offer physical screening.Highway Maintenance Worker II : Preferred Education :
High School Diploma or GED Equivalency preferred.Required Experience & License :
Minimum of one (1) year or more in the road maintenance or construction field required.Commercial Drivers License CDL Class A with tanker and air brake endorsements upon the date of hire required.Special Requirements :
